Health

There are no compulsory health requirements for entry into Brazil; however vaccinations are required for Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Polio and Malaria protection when visiting the Amazon Region.

Please note that if you are entering Brazil via Peru, Ecuador or Colombia, you will be required to provide an up to date yellow fever vaccination certificate for immigration purposes.

You are advised to have full medical insurance cover.

Money

The Brazilian currency money is the REAL. Bank notes are in denominations of 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 reais. Coins are 1.00 real, 50 cents, 25 cents, 10 cents and 5 cents. Some banks and exchange stores recognize travelers’ checks and foreign currency. It is advisable to carry US Dollar travelers’ checks or currency as these are more readily exchanged.

You can use SAFRA BANK as well as the American Express Office located at the International Airports arrival sector. Another option is to utilize the ATM/Cash points machines  to get cash money from your bank.

Credit Cards – Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club and Visa are accepted in the majority of hotels, shops and restaurants.

Visas and Passports

Citizens of the following countries DO NOT need a visa to travel to Brazil for tourism purposes.
