Salvador – Bahia

It is now a thrilling centre of Afro-Brazilian life. The city is filled with churches, homes and forts that reflect stunning portuguese architecture from the baroque period.
Salvador was the first capital city of Brazil and is also known as the “Happy City”, renowned for its multiculturalism (a thrilling centre of Afro-Brazilian life). Each year, its famous carnival attracts millions of revellers, who parade alongside carnival floats and troupes along the city streets.
The party atmosphere lasts all year round, in the surroundings of 50 km of gorgeous beaches. There is also a great diversity of cultures and creeds, with more than thirty Catholic churches rubbing shoulders with the sacred rites of the African animist religion known as Candomblé.

Everybody who comes to Salvador certainly visit Pelourinho, also known as “Pelô” for its visitors and people who live there.

Options around Salvador State:

Praia do Forte. 

Praia do Forte for many years is no longer just a fishing village. But still not lost its charm of the village, so that it was nicknamed the “Brazilian Polynesia”. Located  about 80 km / 50 mi north of Salvador on Bahia`s Miracle Coast,  the resort town/fishing village site has 12 km of beaches and many leisure options.

Upon entering the village, the fishing village aspect will not be immediately apparent, though it will become so when one reaches the beach at the end of the esplanade and sees the fishing boats moored out there in the water. 

Morro de São Paulo. 

It is somewhat ironic, but this little island with beaches with crystal clear water is more famous outside Brazil than within. The beaches of Morro de Sao Paulo do not have names but numbers. It will only go so long: the first, second, third, fourth. One more beautiful than the other. To complete the island –  is a village founded in 1535, with a strong and many historic attractions.
Being an island, there is no vehicular access to Morro de São Paulo. Until recently, tractors for garbage collection, transportation of heavy materials,tours to distant beaches and to and from pousadas on the Fourth Beach were the only motorized vehicles allowed. Today however, although vehicles are not permitted on the beaches and main roads (i.e. Caminho da Praia, Fonte Grande), there are buggy-taxis on the roads that parallel the beaches, through Zimbo, Campo da Mangaba and the Gamboa village.

 Porto Seguro. 

Porto Seguro is the place where Cabral ( the portuguese who discovered Brazil ) first landed in 1500, that makes Porto Seguro one of the most important places in the Brazilian history, and since 1973 is a National Historic Patrimony. 

This is such a must-visit location in Brazil that if you are staying in Salvador, Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo for your Holiday . The best ways to travel to Porto Seguro are by airplane or by bus / coach. 

Porto Seguro has its own international airport which as well as flights directly into the country from Europe has regular connecting flights to and from Salvador, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In fact, Porto Seguro has over 54 domestic flights a week to and from various locations in Brazil.

 Trancoso.

Is a town in the municipality of  Porto Seguro in the state of  Bahia,Brazil. The region was the landing point of the Portuguese explorer, Pedro Alvares Cabral onto Brazil, on April 21, 1500. It was founded by Jesuit Priests on 1583, with the name São João Baptista dos Indios.

Shaped as a rectangle, the village retains the original style of its housing architecture. It is famous for its beaches, such as Praia dos Nativos, Praia dos Coqueiros and Praia do Espelho. In recent years the location has been developed by the hotel industry, including the French Club Mediterranée, which has boosted real estate value.
